Home Ever After


Home Ever After is RSPCA Victoria’s complimentary service that we provide for the love of your pets. When life is unpredictable, it’s only natural to worry about what might happen to them when we’re gone or no longer able to care for them. If there is no one you feel can give your pet a home after you pass away, our Home Ever After program is here for you and your pets.

Those of us lucky enough to have animals in our lives are truly blessed. Our beloved pets are much more than our friends, they’re our family. They fill our hearts with love, our homes with joy and our lives with comfort and companionship.

How does Home Ever After Work?

If you are interested in registering your pet in Home Ever After, our program coordinator will be in touch so you can provide us with lots of information about your pets – all the important and special details that only you would know. We will keep this information on file, so that should we ever need to rehome your pet, we will be able to match them with the perfect new owner.

When your pet is registered with the program, we will send you a special wallet card with Home Ever After contact details for you in case of an emergency along with some other helpful information.

We also recommend that you include your wishes for your pet to be cared for and rehomed by RSPCA Victoria through the Home Ever After program in your Will, simply by including the following wording.

Regarding the future care of my pets, at the time of my passing should there be no member of my family or any of my friends to properly care for my surviving pets, I direct that my Executor give my surviving pets to The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Victoria) (“RSPCA”) on the condition that my pets be found loving new homes under RSPCA Victoria’s pet legacy service, or other equivalent program or policy in place from time to time. I further direct my Executor to arrange for the transportation of my surviving pets from their current residence to an agreed RSPCA site.

Let your love for animals live on

Home Ever After is a free service that we provide for the love of your pets. All we ask in return is that you consider including a gift to RSPCA Victoria in your Will, for the love of all animals.

As an animal lover, taking this thoughtful step is also a special way for you to help make the world a better place for animals in need.

Our previous bequest program

Previously, RSPCA Victoria’s pet legacy program was known as the Bequest Animal Program. Please be reassured that any pets previously registered in the Bequest Animal Program are automatically registered in Home Ever After, however we would love to hear from you and to know more about your pets. Please contact the Home Ever After team at any time if we can be of service.
